Dr. Magdy Ashour, consultant Mufti of the Republic Previously, a question from one of the citizens read: What is the ruling on the envious person according to Sharia law? How do we protect ourselves from his eye?
Magdi Ashour said on his official page on the social networking site Facebook: Envy is a reprehensible characteristic and a great sin, and the Holy Qur’an has made it clear that it is evil, and the Almighty said (And from the evil of the envier when he envies).
Magdy Ashour continued: This is because the envious object to God’s judgment and wisdom regarding His creation. The Almighty said (or do they envy people for what God has given them of His bounty).
What is the ruling on the envious person according to Sharia law, and how can we protect ourselves from his evil eye? The former Mufti’s advisor answers
Magdy Ashour continued: The envious person is a sinner according to Islamic law, and his sin is proportional to his objection to the decree of his Lord, Glory be to Him, and to the extent of his harm to those whom he envies. He must be certain that God’s decree is effective, and that his envy will not bring him any good. Rather, it is evil for him and for others whom he envies. So let him fear God and be content with His decree, and recite many of the Almighty’s words: (What God wills, there is no power except in God.)
The advisor to the former Mufti of the Republic affirmed: A person in general, even if he is envied, must continue to recite Al-Mu’awwidhatayn in the morning and evening, as well as the saying of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of God, from every devil and creature, and from every evil eye.” Whoever persists in this will be protected, God willing.
