The conference was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Counselor Adnan Al-Fangari, Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Gibran, Minister of Labor, Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and Dr. Iman Karim, General Supervisor. The Minister of Social Solidarity began her speech by conveying the greetings of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, who always emphasizes that building a strong and sustainable nation begins with respecting human rights and ensuring the inclusion of all segments of society, including persons with disabilities, in the development process.
The Minister of Social Solidarity indicated that the Egyptian state confirms its full commitment to this noble cause, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which has focused over a full decade on paying attention to the rights of persons with disabilities, starting with the issuance of the Egyptian Constitution in 2014, their membership in parliamentary councils, and the issuance of a law. Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. (10) of 2018 and its Executive Regulations No. (2733) of 2018. The Minister affirmed that Egypt believes in the right of all individuals to obtain their rights. Integrated, without discrimination or marginalization, emphasizing the principles of justice, fairness and equal opportunities. The year 2018 was also designated as the Year of Disability, with the annual celebration of the achievements and successes of people with disabilities, in addition to changing the mental image of them and empowering them in many social, cultural, artistic and sports fields. All this was achieved thanks to the unprecedented support of the political leadership.
Dr. Maya Morsi explained that over the course of a full decade, the Egyptian state launched a series of initiatives and policies that guarantee the rights of people with disabilities to empowerment and full participation.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity confirmed that integration in all its forms is the solution. Integration into education, work, art, culture and sports.
In this context, the Ministry directed its plans to extend the umbrella of social protection to people with disabilities, so it launched the Integrated Services Card, which has become more than just a document; It is a gateway to ensuring human dignity and the right to live independently.
The Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed: What the Egyptian state has achieved in the file of the rights of persons with disabilities during the past ten years is a miracle if compared to what was achieved fifty years ago. We cannot ignore that behind everything that has been achieved is the firm faith and clear humanity of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
She indicated that what the state seeks to achieve through the national strategy will make a big difference in this file, based on what was previously achieved, and driven by more support from the political leadership.
