The Prime Minister meets the Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister, noting that the relations between the two countries have witnessed, over the recent period, continuous communication and coordination, whether through phone calls or exchange of visits, which comes as a continuation of the distinguished fraternal relations at various levels, which Egypt is keen to strengthen and promote. .

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly asked to convey his greetings to his brother Najib Mikati, the Lebanese Prime Minister, for whom he holds all affection and appreciation.

The Prime Minister welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, which entered into force on November 27, 2024, stressing Egypt’s full support for Lebanon during the coming period and backing it in the steps it will take.

During his meeting with the Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly reviewed the results of the ceasefire decision and the extent of commitment to its implementation by both parties.

In this context, the Prime Minister said: We will push the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement, in a way that contributes to achieving the security and sovereignty of Lebanon and its brotherly people. We will also push the full implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 1701 in a way that applies to both parties, while also emphasizing our full support for state institutions. Lebanese, and providing various possible support to Lebanon.

In turn, Dr. Saada Al-Shami thanked the Egyptian state for its constant support for Lebanon, stressing that sister Egypt played an important role in supporting his country during the recent war, and that it also played an important role as a member of the five-year committee formed as a coordination framework for the international community’s support for Lebanon.

The Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister indicated that the cost of the war in Lebanon is very high, adding that the reconstruction efforts will be arduous, expressing in this regard his aspiration for continued Egyptian support for Lebanon during the post-war phase.

Dr. Saada Al-Shami also expressed his desire to enhance cooperation between his country’s government and the Egyptian government in a number of important economic files, including exchanging experiences in implementing the electronic invoice system, especially since the Egyptian experience with this system has proven a notable success.

Al-Shami said: This comes in light of the Lebanese government’s efforts to expand the tax base and increase revenues, which enables it to secure the necessary spending resources for priority projects and services.

In this context, Ahmed Kajouk, Minister of Finance, expressed his readiness to cooperate with whomever the Lebanese government delegates to exchange technical expertise through which the experience of the electronic invoice system can be transferred to brotherly Lebanon, indicating that the implementation of this system in Egypt has contributed significantly to the growth of revenues. This confirms the importance of its application.

Kajouk indicated the possibility of holding a meeting in the coming hours with the work team of the Lebanese Ministry of Finance, which is currently visiting Egypt, to immediately begin consultations on implementing the electronic invoice system in Lebanon.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister renewed his welcome to the Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister in Egypt, stressing Egypt’s continued support for brotherly Lebanon in all files and issues that would achieve its stability and advance its development efforts.
