Ahmed al-Sharaa, nicknamed Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, said, “Public institutions in Syria will remain under the supervision of the former Prime Minister (Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali) until they are officially handed over.”
Al-Sharaa said in a statement: “To all military forces in the city of Damascus, it is strictly forbidden to approach public institutions, which will remain under the supervision of the former Prime Minister until they are officially handed over, and it is also forbidden to fire bullets into the air.”
Reuters reported in urgent news a short while ago that the Syrian armed organizations announced that they had begun entering the Syrian capital, Damascus.
On Sunday, media loyal to the armed factions announced the start of the withdrawal of government forces from Damascus International Airport “suddenly,” after taking full control of the city of Homs, from which the Syrian army forces withdrew.
Two senior Syrian officials also told Reuters that President Bashar al-Assad left Damascus for an unknown destination.
