The institute said that the skies of Egypt are on a date with the astronomical phenomenon of the Leonid meteor shower tomorrow, Sunday, November 17, 2024, as this shower begins from November 6 to 30, and its peak will be on the night of November 17 and 18 this year.

He explained that the best viewing of the Leonid meteor shower phenomenon in the skies of Egypt will be after midnight, preferably in a place far from city lights and completely dark.

The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research added that the meteors appear as if they are coming from Leo, pointing out that these meteors are famous for being a hurricane peak every 33 years, as hundreds of meteors can be seen per hour during the occurrence of this peak.

The institute noted that this finally happened in 2001, as the Leonid meteors are produced from dust grains left behind by Comet Tuttle-Temple, which was discovered in 1865.
