Today, Monday, November 25, the Misr Public Library in Damanhour, in cooperation with the Equal Opportunities Unit in Beheira Governorate, is witnessing the organization of many events within the No to Violence Against Women initiative, to raise awareness about issues of violence against women, under the patronage of Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Beheira Governor, within the framework of the presidential initiative. A new beginning for human building, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which takes place 16 days a day, during the period from the 25th of this month until the 10th of next December.
Launching the activities of the “No to Violence against Women” initiative at the Damanhour Library
This comes with the participation of many governmental and community agencies in the governorate, including Damanhour University, the National Council for Women, the Equal Opportunities Unit in the governorate, the Directorate of Education, the Directorate of Social Solidarity, and the National Population Council.
It is worth noting that the activities include important lectures on the social impacts resulting from underage marriage, highlighting the challenges facing girls and society as a result of this phenomenon, in addition to seminars on the impact of violence on mental health and how communities can provide the necessary psychological support to girls.
The activities also include workshops on how to deal with difficult situations, and provide girls with the necessary skills to deal with daily pressures and challenges, in addition to workshops on empowering women economically and enhancing their financial independence.
In the same context, the activities will include caricature art workshops to encourage participants to express themselves artistically on the issue of violence against women, and an exhibition of the outcomes of workshops previously held in the library on the subject of violence against women, in cooperation with the Abdullah Al-Sawy Foundation for Preserving the Egyptian Caricature Heritage, and an exhibition of the outcomes of the workshops held. Within the framework of women’s economic empowerment.
