Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, met with Dr. Sami Khalil, General Manager of Takeda Egypt, and a number of representatives of the British National Health Service (NHS), including Dr. Rachel Chun, Director of Scientific Research, Innovation and Training. Egyptian-British cooperation to establish the first oncology center of excellence

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Health Care Authority, welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of joint cooperation in developing the health care system in Egypt.

He pointed out that cooperation with the British National Health Service (NHS) will include establishing the first oncology center of excellence with joint expertise with The Christie Foundation, the first and largest oncology institution in Britain.

Dr. Al-Sabki added that it was agreed to launch an integrated oncology care center in Ismailia as a first phase, with a plan to expand the project to include Upper Egypt as a second phase.

He explained that it was agreed to operate an integrated oncology care center at the Ismailia Medical Complex, in twinning with the British Christie Foundation, to transfer global expertise and create a qualitative shift in oncology services in Egypt, in addition to cooperation in the field of oncology treatment and research.

Dr. Al-Sabki indicated that the cooperation will include training medical staff at the Ismailia Medical Complex, with the participation of 14 experts from England, on diagnosis and the latest treatments for oncology patients, in addition to sending Egyptian doctors to train at NHS institutions in Britain.

For his part, Dr. Sami Khalil, General Manager of Takeda Egypt, expressed his happiness at the meeting, and added: We are proud to cooperate with the Healthcare Authority, and believe in consolidating partnerships between the government and private sectors for comprehensive development, and stressed the importance of clinical research to develop modern and innovative tumor treatments for the patient. Egyptian.

Representatives of the British National Health Service (NHS) expressed their great happiness at the meeting, stressing that what they saw during their visit to the Ismailia Medical Complex affiliated with the Health Care Authority indicates a qualitative shift in health care services in Egypt. They praised the dedication of the medical and administrative staff, the quality of care, and the electronic system. They stressed that cooperation with the Authority will achieve great successes in the future.

Participating in the meeting from the General Authority for Health Care were Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Health Policies and Systems and Director General of the General Administration of the Technical Office of the President of the Authority, Dr. Sherif Kamal, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Administration and Director General of the General Administration for Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Administration, and Dr. Radwa Abdel Azim, responsible for the oncology file in the technical office of the head of the authority.

It should be noted that representatives of the British National Health Service (NHS) visited the Ismailia Medical Complex of the General Authority for Health Care in Ismailia Governorate. The visit included an inspection of the various departments of the complex, including clinics, the day care unit for chemotherapy sessions, radiology departments, laboratories, And pharmacies.

The visit also included a presentation that gave a detailed explanation of the development of the health care system in Egypt and the health care authority’s services system, including the development of medical and therapeutic services using the latest technologies, high-level medical and non-medical equipment, mechanization of services and digital transformation, standardization and standardization of clinical protocols, and qualification of Training human cadres, obtaining national and international accreditations, raising the level of user satisfaction, and other distinguished developments.

Representatives of the British National Health Service also gave a lecture that covered an introduction to the Christie Foundation and its role in providing diagnostic and chemotherapy services to oncology patients, in addition to conducting scientific research, involving patients in their treatment, and improving their experience to achieve the highest rates of satisfaction with services.

Joint studies were conducted between the Healthcare Authority, the British National Health Service, and the Christie Foundation, which included analyzes of the readiness of the Authority’s health facilities, and the Ismailia Medical Complex was chosen to implement the first phase of integrated oncology care centers.
