Fahmy Al-Amin, Director General of Aswan Antiquities, visited the Kom Al-Ahmar antiquities area in Edfu, Aswan Governorate, to follow up on the work of various archaeological missions.

In the same context, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, inspected the Esna Temple in Luxor Governorate, to find out the latest developments in the ongoing work in its restoration project and to reveal more of its fresco scenes and original colors, which were covered with a layer of dust and soot that had accumulated on them for decades. .

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities explained, in a statement, that this visit comes within the framework of periodic follow-up of all ongoing restoration and development projects of archaeological sites in light of the assignments of Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, in light of the great importance the political leadership attaches to the unique Egyptian antiquities, pointing out that The Ministry is working during the current period with a number of concerned parties to put the city of Esna on the global tourism map.

Al-Koum Al-Ahmar area

It is noteworthy that the Kom al-Ahmar area, formerly called the Nakhon area, Hierakonpolis, is one of the oldest cities in ancient Egypt. It is located in Upper Egypt between the cities of Esna and Edfu on the western side of the Nile. Its history dates back to before the First Dynasty, where it was the seat of the princes and kings of Upper Egypt between the years 3800 and 2600 BC.
