The Egyptian Society for Liver Transplantation organized its second international conference, which is considered the most important event in the Middle East in terms of attendance, workshops, and medical sessions.
The conference was preceded by 11 workshops in all specialties that serve liver surgery and transplantation for children and adults, advanced endoscopy in transplantation, and discussion of advanced research in this precise specialty.

The conference comes under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, the honorary president of the conference, Dr. Magdy Yacoub, Dr. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Dr. Tariq Youssef, Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals.
Ain Shams University Hospitals said in a statement that AThis year’s conference enjoys great governmental and international support, with the attendance of more than 1,300 people around the world, and 320 experts in this specialty from Spain, England, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and others.
The statement added that the discussion sessions focused on the reasons for the delay in organ transplantation in Egypt and the most important obstacles facing liver transplantation in the Middle East to present them to the concerned authorities that support such important surgeries globally.
The conference is considered an important platform for exchanging experiences and enhancing international cooperation, which contributes to developing and upgrading liver transplant services in Egypt to keep pace with international standards.
