Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, said that Egypt has a strategic reserve of wheat that suffices the country’s needs for up to 4 months, edible oil for up to 6.2 months, and sugar supplies for up to 13.5 months.
The Minister of Supply added that Egypt is self-sufficient in rice, according to Al-Sharq Bloomberg.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, opened the activities of the ninth session of the international food and beverage trade exhibition “Food Africa”, in addition to the exhibitions of “Pack Process” for packaging, “Fresh Africa” for agricultural crops, and “Dates Africa”, which specializes in the date sector.
The Minister of Supply stressed that this event reflects Egypt’s strategic position in global trade and food industries, noting that the “Food Africa” exhibition represents a platform for cooperation and knowledge exchange between trade partners from different parts of the world. He added that the exhibition enhances the competitiveness of Egyptian products and contributes to achieving food security and developing supply chains.
The Minister explained that the events aim to open new horizons for growth, achieve sustainable development, and enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors. He also praised the role that the exhibition plays in unifying efforts to support the food industries and opening new markets for them.
