The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received, this afternoon, Counselor Hanafi Al-Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was keen to offer his condolences to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar on the death of his older sister, praying to God Almighty to cover her with His vast mercy and forgiveness, and to dwell her in His spacious Paradise.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed his pride in Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, which attracted the attention of many foreign historians, who wrote about Egypt and highlighted Al-Azhar’s educational and cultural role, its national and historical role in confronting the colonialists, and its roots extending into the fragrant history since its establishment for more than a thousand years as the most prominent educational and religious institution, stressing Al-Azhar is the great house of the nation.
The meeting also discussed education and the radical differences between ancient and modern education methods. The Sheikh of Al-Azhar stressed that a significant portion of modern education needs to be reconsidered, and must be subjected to a national evaluation strategy to determine whether or not it suits the needs of society. He pointed out that some modern education methods empty education of its content and desired goal, and students lose the ability to To formulate a complete topic with complete elements, pointing out that all of these matters make education lose the ability to build a critical mentality.
The Sheikh of Al-Azhar also warned against the tyranny of material aspects that aim to transform education into an investment and commercial commodity aimed at profit, regardless of the demolition of the pillars of education caused by the developments attached to it, stressing the need to pay attention to teaching our history and heritage, which we left to our enemies and ignored, so they re-presented it to us distorted and ideological, stressing the necessity of concerted action. All relevant parties to restore the school to its role in education, upbringing and teaching, stressing that this will not be done without considering the condition of teachers who represent the cornerstone of the process.
