The Prime Minister opens the New Valley Agricultural Exhibition
The Prime Minister toured the exhibition, where he was keen to inspect the Agricultural Research Department, the Desert Research Center, the Dates Department, the Fertilizers Department, and the Renewable Energy Department.
Major General Dr. Mohamed Al-Zamlot, Governor of the New Valley, confirmed that the governorate held the Egyptian Marketing Forum for Dates over the course of 3 years, and it was also under the patronage of the President, but that year was the fourth season in a row, and witnessed a more expanded launch of the exhibition, which is an extension of the Egyptian Forum for Dates. This exhibition includes not only dates, but all agricultural fields, green and sustainable economy, smart irrigation, and solar energy, stressing that the governorate is a pioneer in these fields, in addition to modern irrigation systems and agricultural technology.
During the inspection, the Prime Minister learned about the efforts of the Desert Research Center, especially with regard to combating palm weevils. He also listened to an explanation from Aladdin Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, who explained that this exhibition aims to advance emerging, medium, small and micro companies operating in sectors Sustainable agriculture, food production, waste and energy management; This is done by offering all communication and promotion mechanisms for companies’ innovative products and services, highlighting specialized financial and commercial development services, as well as strengthening business ties between participants and visitors.
The minister explained that the exhibition also aims to increase the growth of the market for grain food ingredients in Egypt to meet local consumption and provide a surplus for export. The exhibition is also a good opportunity to provide all elements of the sector to farmers, manufacturers, suppliers and retail chains for the food ingredients sector of grains and legumes.
He added: Through the exhibition, we also seek to develop the medicinal and aromatic plants sector by presenting various investment opportunities in the New Valley Governorate, promoting the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, developing value-added chains, and maximizing their contribution to farmers’ income.
Imad Hosni, Director General of Production in New Valley Governorate, pointed out during the inspection that work is being done to meet the needs of the local and international market, by increasing the production of fresh vegetables and fruits and enhancing technological progress in agriculture and infrastructure.
The Director General of Production in New Valley Governorate explained that, in light of the above, the exhibition includes many participants, including producers and manufacturers of dates, aromatic and medicinal plants, vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes, as well as representatives of scientific and research institutions, clean energy, the fertilizer and chemicals sector, the nutritional resources sector, and the associations sector. Agricultural, cooperative and civil society, experts in plant cultivation and production, disease and pest prevention, manufacturing and exporting agricultural crops, as well as packaging and packaging companies, and clean energy industries companies. And renewable.
Imad Hosni noted that the exhibition’s activities include holding workshops and scientific seminars in cooperation with New Valley University, as well as holding bilateral meetings, and an exhibition of handicrafts and heritage.
