Dr. Mahmoud Attia, former member of the House of Representatives for the Shubra El Kheima district, submitted his resignation to Dr. Abdel-Sanad Yamama, head of the Wafd Party, explaining that the party has become a legacy of the past and does not represent the present or the future.

He said in a statement to the party members, “I spent more than 10 years in the New Egyptian Wafd Party, and I was learning and gaining a wealth of different political experiences. I was a member, then in the Wafdah Committee, then head of a committee, then deputy head of the General Committee in Qalyubia, head of the economic committee of the Wafd Party, then a representative in the House of Representatives for the Wafd Party in the constituency.” Shubra El Kheima first.

He added, “I was learning from leaders inside and outside the party by practicing work, party activity, innovation, change, and expression for the public good.”

He pointed out that in light of the absence of similar leaders at the present time, whether youth or otherwise, as the party has become a legacy of the past and does not represent the present or the future, “I found myself surrounded within the walls of the party by leaders who are not similar to me politically, culturally, or reformist.”

He explained that the Wafd Party has become involved in internal conflicts to obtain narrow party positions, in my opinion, and the Egyptian street is not currently expressing its legitimate demands and expressing its will and needs.

He concluded, “After discussions with politicians, friends, those interested in public affairs, and executive leaders, I sought the help of God Almighty and submitted my resignation today from the Egyptian Wafd Party, of which I was honored to be a member as a representative of the great Egyptian people.”
