Ramallah – Saeb Erekat, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said that there are three files submitted to the International Criminal Court regarding Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians.
During a conference held in Ramallah on Saturday, Erekat explained that they are in the process of finalizing the necessary legal procedures to officially refer the files to the International Criminal Court.
Erekat stressed that the Palestinians need international protection from Israeli attacks.
He added, “It is time for the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, regarding the sniping incidents and crimes committed against our people and children in the Gaza Strip.”
The Palestinian official considered that US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, was encouraging Israel to commit crimes against the Palestinians.
On Friday, the United Nations called on the Israeli government to “legalize the use of lethal force,” while calling on the Palestinians to “avoid contact” with Israeli forces at the security fence separating Gaza and Israel.
The toll of Palestinian martyrs who fell by Israeli army gunfire since March 30 has now reached 39 martyrs and thousands of wounded.
Erekat stressed that “Jerusalem is more important than all the capitals of the world,” noting that the American administration began implementing the “Deal of the Century” by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He said, “It is shameful for member states of the United Nations to consider moving their embassy to Jerusalem, and any action in this regard is considered null and void.”
