As part of the ongoing efforts to provide basic goods with quality and competitive prices to citizens, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, announced the establishment of a “one-day market” and activating it for two days as an experiment in the Nasr City area, to continue operating on Fridays and Saturdays. This step comes as a continuation of the successes it has achieved. The ongoing markets in the areas of Helwan, Al-Amiriya, Al-Marj, Imbaba, and Al-Omraniya, where they continue to provide their services to citizens in the same locations on Friday of every week, through the Holding Company for Food Industries. and its subsidiaries.
The Minister of Supply confirmed that the “one-day market” experience is witnessing continuous expansion and increasing demand from citizens day after day. He added that the Ministry is working in full coordination with the Ministry of Local Development and the governors to ensure the success of these markets and to replicate the experience in other governorates across the Republic.
The minister explained that the markets were distinguished by providing a variety of basic commodities, vegetables, fruits, fresh and frozen meat, in addition to high-quality food products. This experience witnessed active participation from public sector companies, which revived long-established brands of products of the Holding Company for Food Industries, which received great welcome and happiness from citizens for their high quality and reasonable prices.
He also pointed out the vital role played by the private sector in these markets by providing goods at competitive prices and meeting consumer needs. He stated that the demand for these markets is witnessing remarkable growth, which reflects citizens’ confidence in this new model of markets.
The Minister of Supply concluded by emphasizing the evaluation of the “one-day market” experience in Nasr City for two days in preparation for spreading it to the rest of the locations to achieve the best results and meet the needs of citizens, while continuing to expand the initiative to cover more regions and governorates.
