On the sidelines of a visit to Geneva, Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary, Legal and Political Affairs, met with Nada Al-Nashif, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The meeting discussed the existing cooperation between Egypt and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the progress achieved within the framework of the “Technical Cooperation and Capacity Building Program” between the two sides.
The meeting also covered a presentation of the recent legislative developments related to the approval of the draft national law regulating asylum and the ongoing discussions about the new criminal procedure law, in addition to the ongoing efforts to implement a number of important entitlements in the field of human rights, the most important of which is the issuance of reports on the implementation of the national human rights strategy. Egypt’s commitment to interacting with the UN contractual committees through the Permanent Supreme Committee for Human Rights, and the ongoing preparations for Egypt’s comprehensive periodic review session in January 2025.
