Author Rasha Ezzat Al-Gazzar attacked Heba Yousry, the author of the film Al-Hawa Sultan, starring Menna Shalaby and Ahmed Dawoud, explaining that the idea of the work was stolen from her film My First Love, confirming that she tried to communicate with the author of Al-Hawa Sultan, but she was unable.

Rasha Ezzat Al-Jazzar wrote, through her personal account on Facebook: The film “Al-Hawai Sultan” is a treatment for the film “My First Love,” written by me. In September 2017, I wrote a treatment for a feature-length film entitled “My First Love,” and this was a temporary name for the film and I have it pinned to my emails and WhatsApp with the dates. Correspondence to directors and producers on the search for a production from then until a few months ago.

She continued: It was my moral, that love can be very close to you and you do not see it or take care of it because you call it any other name, friendship, ten, neighbor, brother, even though it can remain very close to you, and this is because you are wearing an umbrella that is different in name.

She added: On Thursday, November 7th, I went to the cinema to see the movie El Hawa Sultan. This is because I wait for any new movie to come out in the cinema and I run to see it, and I was very excited because I love Menna Shalabi and see all of her works. I was surprised that the entire story of the movie – certainly the entire story – was stolen. From the story of my film My First Love, with all the details, with different locations and dialogue. In my story, I had the hero and heroine live in the same building, in two apartments on top of each other.

She continued: Without exaggeration, if I mentioned the details I have in my story and the similarities between them and what I saw in the movie Al-Hawai Sultan, the match would exceed 70%. The idea, the story, and all the main events with the details of what will happen with the heroes were stolen from my story (My First Love). I tried over the course of two days. I am communicating with the author and director of the film Al-Hawai Sultan, but she did not answer my phones, even though I sent her a message on WhatsApp and introduced myself and asked that I speak to her as necessary, and then I called her again twice and she did not answer… This post is only for me and for my right to defend my work. And not for anything else.

She continued: It is very difficult for all this violation and theft of your creativity and work to happen to you and for you not to say… even though if the author of the film had responded to me and given me an explanation for what happened, perhaps I would have kept silent and forgiven, but the theft and shameless neglect is a painful thing that forced me to write here in front of people… I bear God as witness that the idea The story of the film The Fancy Stan, which is currently in cinemas, is the idea, story and details of my film My First Love, and it is my effort and writing and stolen from me.. I will not forgive the film’s author for this infringement on my literary rights.

She continued: I was hoping that the author would have some courage and respond to me and say: Is this massive amount of theft, even in the simplest details, actually her authorship? Did my paper fall into her hands? No one told her the story while she worked on it, and I would like to say something else to the author. You distorted the story and stole its details, but you are wrong because you have neither roots nor the idea, and the story comes from your soul. Attached with the picture is the log-line of the story of my film My First Love. I decide again that the similarity is not Only the idea, but the story in all its details.

She concluded: All respect to the rest of the creators of the work, including stars, artists, makers, and production companies, because they have no fault and no one knows, and my great love for Menna Shalabi and her great talent. In this post, I say to myself – I say to Rasha, I am defending you, your right, your work, and your continuous attempts to strive. With honor, so that I can continue writing with love, energy and passion in the midst of all this ugliness, to Heba Yousry, the author of Al-Hawa Sultan, I tell you in front of all the people, I don’t allow you.
