Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, made two phone calls this evening with Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, and Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of Lebanon.
Minister Abdel Ati expressed his hope that the ceasefire agreement that entered into force this morning would result in achieving security and stability for the brotherly Lebanese people, in a way that preserves Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He stressed Egypt’s position in support of empowering Lebanese national institutions, led by the Lebanese Army, and the necessity of implementing Security Council Resolution 1701 with all its elements, in addition to completing the presidential election.
Providing all forms of support and assistance to Lebanon
For their part, the Speakers of the Lebanese Parliament and Government requested to convey their sincere greetings to the President of the Republic, expressing their deep appreciation for his strenuous efforts and the pivotal role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt to provide all forms of support and assistance to Lebanon at the political and humanitarian levels throughout the past difficult period, and for what can be built upon to achieve Security and stability throughout Lebanon.
