This came in his speech delivered by the Deputy Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Mohamed Al-Tayeb, on his behalf, during the activities of the global meeting: Oral health… achieving comprehensive health coverage in the field of oral health by the World Health Organization, which will be held during the period from 26 to 29 November, in the Thai capital. Bangkok.

Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb began his speech by thanking the World Health Organization and the Kingdom of Thailand for the kind invitation extended to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population to participate in this prominent global gathering, which is a vital platform to address an important global issue—oral health—which is considered one of the basic pillars of health care. He stressed that oral health is an integral part of achieving the goals of primary health care, and raising awareness about it represents an essential part of public health efforts worldwide.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Population added that the Bangkok Declaration represents an exceptional opportunity to strengthen health care systems by recognizing oral health as an integral part of public health, instead of considering it a separate issue, while emphasizing the urgent need to confront the global burden of oral diseases and integrate oral health into health coverage. Comprehensive, explaining that the declaration’s focus on equitable and affordable access to oral health services is closely aligned with the ongoing health reforms in Egypt, which aim to provide comprehensive care for all citizens.

He continued that the high-level United Nations meeting on noncommunicable diseases, scheduled to be held in 2025, represents an important opportunity to further align oral health with global strategies towards enhancing universal health coverage, stressing the Egyptian state’s commitment to improving oral health as a pivotal element in global public health.

Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb said that the Egyptian state issued the Comprehensive Health Insurance Law, which is in line with the sustainable development goals in the field of health, especially the pillars of justice, equality and social infrastructure, ensuring that all citizens have access to high-quality health care, including oral health services. .

Al-Tayeb pointed out that Egypt’s contributions to integrating oral health and the prevention of non-communicable diseases into comprehensive primary health care are based on including oral health services within primary health care frameworks, noting Egypt’s commitment to developing a comprehensive national oral health policy by 2026, with the aim of integrating oral health. In the wider national healthcare system.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Population stressed the Egyptian state’s keenness to implement the global action plan for oral health 2023-2030, with an emphasis on integrating oral health into the prevention of noncommunicable diseases, promoting health equality, and developing sustainable health systems, calling for exploiting the momentum achieved at the meeting.
