Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, president of the company, testified Holding For drinking water and sanitation, the special session held within the activities of the third day of the International Conference and Exhibition for Water and Sanitation Technology (IWWI), under the title “Institutional Framework and Private Sector Participation in Managing Water and Desalination Services.”
President of the Water Holding Company: Strengthening cooperation with local and international partners to improve the quality of services provided
The session was moderated by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ati, former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and a number of experts and specialists participated in it, including Dr. Walaa Jad Al-Karim, Director of the Decent Life Initiative Unit at the Ministry of Local Development, Dr. Mohamed Heikal, Advisor to Orascom Construction, and Engineer Nayef Al-Arifi, Director Implementing projects at the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), and Espen Ringen, CEO of Oceanic Energy LLC from Norway.
The session discussed the importance of the institutional framework in managing water resources and desalination services, and the role of the private sector in enhancing the efficiency of operating and managing these services. Participants also discussed the challenges facing institutions responsible for managing water resources, and mechanisms for strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors to develop sustainable solutions to secure water services.
During his speech, Engineer Mamdouh Raslan praised the role of the private sector in supporting the state’s efforts to develop water and sanitation services, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation with local and international partners to apply the latest technologies and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
He pointed to the successful experiences carried out by the Holding Company in cooperation with the private sector in water and desalination projects, which contributed to achieving a qualitative breakthrough in this field.
Raslan stressed that the holding company is continuing its efforts to implement Egypt’s Vision 2030 with regard to achieving sustainable development in the water and sanitation sector, by improving infrastructure, enhancing operating efficiency, and developing human resources to keep pace with global developments.
The session concluded with fruitful discussions on international best practices and mechanisms for developing the institutional framework in the water sector, in addition to promoting innovation and sustainability in water resources management.
