The celebration of the fourth annual anniversary of nuclear energy will begin shortly, headed by Dr. Amjad Al-Wakil, Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, on that day that coincides with the signing of the governmental agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Russia regarding cooperation in building and operating the first nuclear station on Egyptian territory (IGA) under the auspices of the President of the Republic. The Nuclear Power Plants Authority is preparing to give the Russian general contractor, Atomstroyexport, the signal to start installing the reactor core trap for the fourth nuclear unit on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, coinciding with the celebration of the fourth annual anniversary of nuclear energy in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Dr. Amjad Al-Wakil, Chairman of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority, stressed the importance of this generation’s pride in achieving Egypt’s nuclear dream during their work in the Authority, as this dream began in 1955, and there were several attempts to establish the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project in previous years until it was actually started during the era of President Abdel Fattah. Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed that there is continuous follow-up of the Dabaa nuclear station project and the implementation progress in light of the timetable for completing the work, completing the various stages, and connecting to the network, explaining the electricity sector’s work strategy, which is based on the energy mix, diversifying the sources of electricity generation, and relying on new energies. Renewable and clean to reduce fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions.
He pointed to the state’s interest in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and the importance of this within the framework of the sustainable development plan and achieving the desired development in various fields, especially in generating electrical energy.
