Sherif El-Erian added during television statements: There was no president outside the West for the modern pentathlon, and I succeeded in the first and second rounds, and the Frenchman was excluded due to weak votes, and the vote was repeated between me and the American, and I won.
Sherif El-Erian continued: I did receive congratulations, but we were surprised that there was a third round, which the American won by 53 votes to 48 votes. We submitted an official objection and are awaiting a response.
The president of the Modern Pentathlon Federation said: We contacted the lawyers and confirmed the correctness of our position. If we receive a rejection, we will escalate to the international court, but if the appeal is accepted, I will be the president.
Sherif El-Erian concluded: I have not decided my position on running for the Egyptian Olympic Committee, especially since it is still early, as the nomination window opens on March 1, followed by voting next April.
Earlier, the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, headed by Klaus Schürmann, sent a letter of congratulations, addressed to Engineer Sherif El-Erian, President of the Egyptian Federation, on the achievement achieved by Egypt in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the crowning of Ahmed El-Gendy with the men’s individual gold medal in the modern pentathlon, breaking the world record.
