Today, Monday, the House of Representatives Housing and Utilities Committee, headed by Representative Mohamed Attia Al-Fayoumi, will begin implementing the directives of the Speaker of the House regarding discussing the old rent file.

Today, the Parliamentary Committee will hold a meeting, in the presence of Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing and Utilities, to determine the steps for studying and discussing the ruling issued by the Supreme Constitutional Court regarding the unconstitutionality of the first paragraph in both Articles No. (1) and (2) of Law No. (136) of the year 1981 regarding some provisions related to renting places and regulating the relationship between the landlord and the tenant.

In the same context, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, affirmed the commitment to look into the file of the old rental law, from a comprehensive and balanced perspective, in a way that guarantees justice without bias towards one party at the expense of another, and in a way that enhances social solidarity among the people of this country.

This came in his speech during the plenary session yesterday, and in response to the unconstitutionality of the first paragraph in both Articles No. 1 and (2) of Law No. (136) of 1981 regarding some provisions related to renting places and regulating the relationship between the landlord and the tenant.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives concluded: We aim to reach a balanced legislative formulation that guarantees the rights of both parties, achieves justice between them, and ensures the implementation of the ruling of the Supreme Constitutional Court.
