Today, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, opened the one-day market in the Amiriya area, which is the third market after the opening of the markets in Cairo, Helwan, and Nasr City.
The opening witnessed the presence of a number of ministry leaders, governorate leaders, and a number of company and factory owners, who participated in providing support for products at reduced prices.
The event witnessed wide participation from national companies and factories, which were keen to provide their products at competitive prices, including food commodities and basic products, which contributes to achieving price stability and meeting the needs of citizens with high quality.
In his speech, Dr. Sherif Farouk stressed that the opening of the one-day market comes within the ministry’s strategy to control markets and provide goods at fair prices. Pointing out that the state and all its agencies are working to reduce the burden on citizens and provide goods at reasonable prices.
He added that this initiative aims to provide discounts of up to 30% compared to market prices, noting that the markets include all types of basic food products such as oils, sugar, rice, meat, and poultry, in addition to vegetables and fruits.
He explained that these markets will expand to include all governorates, with the aim of reaching all citizens at reasonable prices, especially in areas with high population density.
For his part, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, pointed out that the idea of the one-day market is based on increasing the commodity supply and reducing prices, stressing that the supplies in these markets are lower in price than those in last Friday’s market in Nasr City, due to the entry of many companies. others in competition. He added that the market represents a practical model for supporting low-income people and achieving social justice, noting that the governorate is constantly working to expand the scope of these initiatives to include more areas in the capital.
He explained that this market reflects the state’s commitment to providing necessary goods at reasonable prices, which contributes to alleviating financial pressures on families. He confirmed that the market will be held weekly on Friday, with the street reopening to traffic normally the rest of the week, which will contribute to facilitating the movement of citizens in the area. He pointed out that the market serves several areas in Cairo and allows citizens to purchase their needs of food, vegetables, fruits and meat at reduced prices.
A number of citizens praised this initiative, stressing that the availability of goods at low prices contributes to alleviating financial pressures on them, especially with the rise in prices in traditional markets. They also expressed their admiration for organizing the markets and ensuring the availability of all the family’s basic food needs, which ensures comfort and security in meeting their daily needs.
The Minister of Supply stressed that the next stage will witness more cooperation with the private sector and the public sector to expand the scope of this initiative, to ensure the continued availability of food commodities with high efficiency and appropriate prices in various regions.
