Everton said in a brief statement: The Merseyside derby today, Saturday, at Goodison Park, has been postponed due to bad weather conditions.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Athletic reported that it was decided to postpone the Liverpool-Everton match, which was scheduled to be held at Goodison Park, at 2:30 this afternoon, due to bad weather conditions in England.
Reports indicated that the country was affected by a strong weather storm, “Storm Darragh,” and the British Meteorological Authority issued a warning that holding the match would be life-threatening, indicating that the match would be scheduled for a later time.
Liverpool and Everton issued a joint official statement yesterday, Friday, regarding the situation of the match, which read as follows: Fans attending the Merseyside derby match on Saturday at Goodison Park are advised to allocate additional time for travel and to stay informed of Met Office weather warnings.
The statement added: The Met Office issued an amber warning for high winds on Merseyside from 3am on Saturday, with possible wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour, and the wind warning is expected to remain in place until 8am on Sunday. Due to the weather warning, fans are advised to allow extra time for their journey and take extra caution.
The joint statement concluded: Fans are also advised to closely monitor travel and weather advisories in their area to help plan travel for a Premier League match.
