Most Asian stocks rose on Thursday, tracking a third straight record high close on Wall Street amid a rise in technology stocks, while South Korean stocks continued to decline amid fears of a possible political crisis.
The three major US stock indexes closed at record highs overnight as technology stocks rose after strong earnings from Salesforce (NYSE: CRM). There was little change in US futures on Thursday.
Regional investors also derived some comfort from US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s speech at an event organized by the New York Times.
Powell pointed to the strength of the US economy and did not reduce expectations of an interest rate cut in December, although he indicated a more cautious approach to future easing.
