Apple annual conference events September 7, 2022
We are just a few weeks away from Apple’s iPhone 14 launch event, and it is expected to showcase a range of new devices – not just the iPhone 14. It is expected that 3 new models of Apple Watch and even AirPods Pro headphones will be displayed there.
Apple is holding a small in-person event at its Apple Campus and will stream the show online, similar to what it did with WWDC in June.
Here’s what we might see at Apple’s heavy hardware event, scheduled to take place on September 7, 2022, at 9 pm UAE time and 8 pm Saudi time.
There are three big features expected in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max:
- Always-on display (a feature that Android phones have had for years).
- 48-megapixel rear camera with a larger sensor.
- The screen gets rid of the usual notch in favor of smaller camera openings.
Leaks about iPhone 14
A report from MacRumors notes that the camera and speaker will have separate openings when the screen is off but will form one long line when they are on. A tipster told 9to5Mac that Apple will use the extra space between the two holes to more prominently display the camera and microphone privacy indicators, which users may be able to leverage to get more information about what’s currently being accessed.
9to5Mac also said that Apple has improved its camera app for its iPhone Pro devices by shifting some of its controls, like the flash and autofocus buttons, to the top of the screen, while placing others just below the aperture.
The phone should also get an upgraded A16 chipset and will likely have two new colors: blue and dark purple.
It’s also rumored to support a faster 30W charger (but the phone itself probably won’t come with USB-C just yet, though), as well as starting with 256GB of storage. That’s a solid list of new features that Apple might use to justify it. Increased prices of iPhone 14 phones.
However, it does not seem that the regular version of the iPhone 14 will come with many major changes, as the biggest update to the model is expected to be the introduction of a larger 6.7-inch screen.
Nomenclature aside, rumors from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that the iPhone 14 (as well as the Pro and Pro Max) may also have a better selfie camera that uses autofocus. In terms of performance, the basic iPhone 14 will likely use the same A15 processor used in the iPhone 13 series.
If you are a fan of small phones, I am sorry to say that the new iPhone mini is expected to most likely not appear this year.
