Serho Geraci said in a post on his official account on the social networking site, X: The disappointment is great. Not seeing Guinea in the 2025 African Cup of Nations represents pain for us, for the players, and for an entire people who live and breathe football.
He added: The players are primarily responsible for this. I personally want to apologize to the Guinean people. We failed in our mission. We gave everything on the field, but sometimes the obstacles are greater than our efforts. For example, it was playing all our matches. Qualifying away from home is a real handicap and an unfair test for our team and fans.
He added: I would like to thank our fans for their unwavering support despite these difficult circumstances. This situation should worry us. Guinean football deserves a fair organization and playing conditions that respect the efforts of players and fans. The organization and management of our football must live up to the level of talent and passion of our people.. This is not The end of our story, it is a step that we will work, rise up and fight to come back stronger. Guinea deserves to be at the top.
The Guinean national team lost in the last match it played against its counterpart, the Tanzania national team, in the sixth round of the 2025 African Nations qualifiers, with a score of 1-0.
The Guinea national team ranked third in Group Eight with 9 points, behind Tanzania, which ranked second with 10 points, while the Democratic Republic of the Congo ranked first with 12 points.
