The Islamic Research Academy honored the winners of the Hajj and Umrah Cultural Competition for the year 1445 AH, for the fifth year in a row, which was held under the patronage of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, under the general supervision of the Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, and the executive supervision of the Assistant Secretary for Women Preachers’ Affairs.
Honoring 50 winners in the Hajj and Umrah cultural competition
The Islamic Research Academy explained that the winners were awarded during today’s celebration, which was attended by the Secretary-General and Assistant Secretaries, a valuable library of Al-Azhar’s publications. This is within the framework of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s efforts to spread culture and knowledge.
The competition aimed to encourage the public to read in order to confront the spread of some misconceptions and misuse of legal texts, in addition to incorrect fatwas issued by unqualified people, and to connect all members of society with religious and national seasons, and encourage them to gain knowledge about those occasions, especially those that one cannot afford. His ignorance, and building a generation that has awareness of everything going on around it and a high degree of culture and knowledge.
Earlier, the Al-Azhar International Center for Forensic Astronomy and Space Sciences at the Islamic Research Academy announced the start of the first phase of implementing the project (reviving the astronomical sundial at Al-Azhar Mosque), which is considered a witness to the genius of Muslim scholars in the field of astronomy, and one of the most important landmarks of Al-Azhar Mosque that bears witness to its scientific and cultural heritage. Under the guidance of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and under the supervision of the Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, and the Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jundi.
Dr. Muhammad al-Jundi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy and Vice President of the Al-Azhar International Center for Forensic Astronomy and Space Sciences, said: We have begun the first implementation steps for this important project at Al-Azhar Mosque. By assigning the preparation of a scientific committee to conduct a field visit to examine the scientific measurements and dimensions of the sundial, and to prepare a model to be installed to accurately take geometric measurements and follow the movement of the shadow; To determine the accuracy of the deviations of the signs, with the knowledge of officials from the Ministry of Antiquities and the administration of Al-Azhar Mosque.
