Al-Assi added in television statements that Egypt imports players largely from North Africa, the Egyptian national team’s main competitor, and this raises the professional player’s shares and leads to a decline in the Egyptian player’s shares.
Al-Assi continued, “It is illogical for a North African player to leave his professional career in France and come to Egypt for the sake of football, and the only thing that motivates the player to come is the exaggerated financial value from Egyptian clubs, unlike European clubs.”
Sports critic Al-Assi called on the new council of the Egyptian Football Association to reduce the number of professional players in the Egyptian League, in order to improve the value and quality of the league.
