Today, Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the government district of the New Administrative Capital.

During the meeting, it was agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Society for Social and Cultural Development at the Naboo Museum in Lebanon to restore a number of Egyptian artifacts from the museum to the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to cooperation in the field of cultural exchange and the protection of antiquities and cultural property.

The meeting discussed the adoption of the decision of the External Exhibitions Committee regarding approval to participate with 8 artifacts from the collections of the Museum of Islamic Art in an exhibition entitled “And What’s Between” in the Pilgrims’ Hall in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for a period of four months.

It was also approved to sign a reference document with the Korean National University for Heritage in the Republic of Korea regarding the project to establish a center for digital documentation of heritage in Cairo, as well as the project to strengthen capabilities for the development of cultural tourism resources for sustainable cultural heritage in Luxor, which includes restoration work on the edifice of the Ramesseum Temple in Luxor, in addition to supplying a museum. The meeting also touched on a review of the results of the Exhibition at the Top of the Pyramid, Ancient Egyptian Civilization, currently held in Shanghai, China. The exhibition has received about one million visitors since its opening last July until now, and it is expected to receive about 4 million visitors by the end of its exhibition period next August.
