A five-year-old child drowned in a canal in the Dar es Salaam center district, southeast of the governorate. SohagWhile playing in front of the house, his feet slipped and he fell into the canal. The body was recovered and transported to Dar es Salaam Central Hospital.
Major General Sabri Saleh Azab – Assistant Minister of the Interior and Director of Sohag Security, received a notification from the warden of the Dar El Salam Center stating that the child Atef A.M.A. – 5 years old – and a resident of the same district had arrived at the Dar El Salam Central Hospital, “a dead body,” alleging drowning, a resident of the Dar El Salam Center.
The police officers moved immediately and his father, called Mr. M A M – 41 years old, a driver and resident, reported that while his aforementioned son was playing on the edge of the canal facing the house in the same direction, his feet slipped and he fell, which led to his death by drowning. He did not accuse anyone of causing this and denied the criminal suspicion.
Upon a medical examination of the body by the health inspector, he stated that the cause of death was “asphyxiation by drowning” and that there was no criminal suspicion in the accident. The necessary report on the incident was drawn up in preparation for presenting it to the competent investigation authorities.
