His voice was always stronger than the barrels of rifles. His words shook the occupation as if they were the sound of an explosion. He never backed down from performing his mission, even when his wife and children were killed and the news came to him on the air, of the death of “Hamza Al-Ruh,” as he described it. He stood in front of the camera and lamented: “They are taking revenge on us.” Sorry about the boys.. We continue our work live, and there is nothing to be ashamed of.” This is how Palestinian journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh was able to be the icon of the last Israeli war on Gaza, with his patience and fortitude over his affliction. He was the talk of the world, including Israel’s allies, when the American Secretary of State said: “Journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh is facing an unimaginable tragedy.”
This morning, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad, in the presence of a number of world leaders, honored journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, during The opening of the Doha Forum, stressing that it is a symbol of commitment and steadfastness, and that despite the loss of his wife, son, and a number of his family members, he continued to cover, until he was seriously injured, and despite that, it did not keep him away from the field.
My heart breaks with longing.. Wael Al-Dahdouh commemorates the birth of his son Hamza: You were my joy and my sorrow, so they killed the joy and left the sorrow
Sleep peacefully next to your Lord… With a heart squeezing pain and words stronger than the bullets of the brutal occupation, the Palestinian journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, known as the Icon of War, eulogized his son Hamza on his birthday, saying: You were my joy, my eagerness, and my agony until they killed the joy and left the sorrow.
The tactful journalist, who, despite his tragedies, used to speak to us about the crimes of the occupation, did not find in front of his hurt at the loss of “Hamza Al-Ruh,” as he described him, words to mourn him on his 28th birthday, so he stood helpless and heartbroken, asking: What should I say to you, my son, on your birthday? My heart has broken with longing for you and for all of them?
July 10, twenty-eight years ago, was the coming of “Hamza” to this world, and despite what happened to “Al-Dahdouh,” he remembers well that day, his joy, and his eagerness for the joy of his heart and the joy of his liver, “Oh Hamza of the soul, oh joy of the heart, and oh everything, in such a situation.” Twenty-eight years ago today, God honored me with your coming into this world, and you were my joy, my eagerness, and my passion.”

In January of this year, and about 7 months ago, that joy was killed, after the shock that Al-Dahdouh received with the martyrdom of his son, Hamza Al-Dahdouh, who was targeted and bombed by the occupation along with his friend in the west of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, so that Hamza joined 12 members of his family who were martyred at the end of last October. Al-Dahdouh continues in his post: “Seven months before the worst of wars, they killed the joy and kept the pain alive,” to end. His message to his son, who went and was happy with him: “Sleep peacefully next to your Lord, and there is no power nor strength except in God, the Most High, the Great.”
Al-Dahdouh had deeply saddened the loss of his eldest son, and everyone mourned him at the time, including officials from countries that support Israel, such as the American Secretary of State, the first ally of the brutal occupation, who spoke of his being affected by what happened to an Al-Jazeera correspondent. At that time, Al-Dahdouh commented on the incident by saying: “We are sad and in pain, but We are full of humanity and our enemy is full of murder and hatred. We will continue our work and there is nothing to be ashamed of.”
