Carlos O’Connell of Irish post-punk band Fontaine DC criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu during Britain’s Rolling Stone Awards.

According to Independent, the guitarist appeared on stage at London’s Roundhouse while accepting the award for best album for the band’s latest release, saying: “What a night, I don’t know, I guess there’s only two words to say here.”
Carlos O’Connell expressed his surprise that no other artist mentioned Palestine, and said: It’s strange that this is the first time the following has been said all night, but I will say it, free Palestine, screw Netanyahu, screw Zionism, free Palestine.
O’Connell’s statements come days after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on charges of committing alleged war crimes during the conflict in Gaza.
This is not the first time that the five-member Fontaine DC band, which also consists of lead singer Greanna Chatten, bassist Connor Curley, bassist Connor Deegan III, and drummer Tom Cole, have declared their support for Palestine.
Fontaine DC cancels its concert in Turkey in support of Palestine
Last August, they canceled their concert in Istanbul, Turkey in solidarity with Palestine, posting a joint statement on social media in which they wrote: To all our amazing fans in Turkey, after conversations with Palestinian artists and human rights activists, we have decided to cancel our show at Sorlu PSM, Istanbul on Tuesday. August 20.
This is after the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, led by the largest Palestinian coalition, called on artists to refuse to perform at Zorlu PSM until Zorlu completely abandons its energy supplies to Israel while it carries out what the International Court of Justice now agrees is potential genocide.
The band continued in its post: We were really looking forward to visiting beautiful Istanbul and playing in it, but in this case we must be clear in our convictions and put solidarity with the people of Palestine in the first place, and we promise to play in Türkiye as soon as possible.
Last week, Fontaines DC returned to the road after a month-long hiatus following the conclusion of their US world tour in support of their new album Romance.
