The Suez Canal General Authority published details of decisions Board of DirectorsBy extending the discounts granted to all ships, natural gas, oil and chemical tankers, and car carrier ships until the end of June 2025, in addition to extending a series of other incentives for navigation in the canal.
Incentives for LNG carriers
The navigational publications, published on the authority’s platform, included an extension of the reduction granted to dry bulk cargo ships, liquefied natural gas carriers, crude oil tankers, liquefied petroleum gas tankers, petroleum derivatives carriers, chemical and other liquid carriers, container ships, and car carrier ships.
The Authority granted “car carrier” ships (loaded/empty) that operate directly in both directions between the ports of the “East Coast of the Americas and the American Gulf” on the one hand and the ports of the “Far East and Southeast Asia (starting from Port Klang and its east)” on the other hand, the following reductions: :
1- For the journey between ports starting from the port of Norfolk and its north on the one hand and the ports (Port Klang and its east) on the other hand, a reduction of 40% of the normal transit fees is granted.

2- For the trip between the ports south of Norfolk Port on the one hand and the ports (Port Klang and its east) on the other hand, a reduction of 55% of the normal transit fees is granted.
The authority decided to extend the exemption granted to container ships (loaded/empty) coming directly from the ports of northwestern Europe (in addition to the port of Tangier), starting from the port of (Algeciras) and heading directly to the port of (Port Klang) and what is east of it in the ports of Southeast Asia and the Far East. In the normal transit fees of 15% stipulated in Paragraph (A) of Article One of Circular No. (7/2023) until June 30 2025 (the last date the ship will sail from the port of call is June 30, 2025).
It also decided to extend the work of granting a discount for container ships (loaded or empty) coming directly from the eastern coast of the Americas and the American Gulf and heading directly to the regions of South Asia and Southeast Asia until June 30, 2025 (the last date for the ship to sail from the port of call is June 30, 2025).
