In a related context, a Lebanese official source said in press statements that the ministers have been informed of preparations to hold a government session tomorrow morning to approve the ceasefire agreement.

He added: Holding the Lebanese government session is linked to Israel’s approval of the draft ceasefire agreement. If a quorum is not achieved for the government session, a consultative meeting of ministers will be held, headed by Mikati.

He pointed out that the implementation of the agreement will take place in stages and within a period of time extending to 60 days, noting that a five-member committee will monitor the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel when it enters into force.

The source stated that UN Resolution 1701 is the only reference for the ceasefire agreement.

Ceasefire in Lebanon

Earlier, Reuters reported to Israeli and media outlets, on Monday evening, that the agreement on a ceasefire between the occupation and Hezbollah had been completed, and was awaiting a possible announcement within hours.

A senior official in the administration of US President Joe Biden said on Monday that Washington believes it has achieved a breakthrough in the negotiations between Israel and Lebanon and succeeded in reaching an agreement on a ceasefire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah.

Reuters added that the United States informed Lebanese officials that a ceasefire may be announced within hours.
