Cairo – Mubasher: Hala Al-Saeed, the Egyptian Minister of Planning, agreed to support the plan of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation with an amount of 236 million pounds, the cost of measuring the electricity supply to the Bahr Al-Baqar drain water treatment plant with a capacity of 5 million cubic meters / day, within the plan for the current fiscal year 2020. -2021, in light of the implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic.
Al-Saeed explained, in a statement today, Sunday, that the Bahr al-Baqar drain water treatment plant is the largest in the world, as it is being implemented with a capacity of 5 million m3/day. It will also be used to reclaim and cultivate about 330,000 acres east of the Suez Canal, in addition to 70,000 Acres are currently being cultivated.
Al-Saeed pointed out that the Bahr al-Baqar drain water treatment plant comes as one of the components of the project to establish the Bahr al-Baqar drain water system, which is one of the most important projects of the Sinai Peninsula development program.
Al-Saeed indicated that the Ministry is keen to provide the necessary support to implement the project, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to support Sinai development efforts, invest in infrastructure, and improve services provided to citizens, while providing the necessary funds to bring about development in the Canal and Sinai region.
She continued: “The project aims to strengthen the water resources management system through the optimal use of available water resources, and reducing their waste, to use them to increase the agricultural area, especially in the Sinai Peninsula, in addition to establishing integrated agricultural development projects for agricultural, animal, and industrial production.”
It is noteworthy that the Bahr Al-Baqar Bank is the only bank that extends from south of Cairo through 5 governorates: Qalyubia, Sharqia, Ismailia, Dakahlia, and Port Said, and ends with its contents in Lake Manzala, and its length is about 190 kilometers.
