Egypt will remain in another place…the discovery of a new gas that will change the production map

I wonder what is the story of the new gas well that the Ministry of Petroleum announced would be discovered soon, and how it will change the map of energy production in Egypt, and how much it is supposed to produce per day, and what are the gains that will accrue to the Egyptian economy and the ordinary citizen from this discovery.

The story is simple: The Minister of Petroleum, Engineer Karim Badawi, inspected the drilling work for the “Khanjar 1” exploratory well in the northern Dabaa marine area in the western Mediterranean, and this area belongs to the concession areas of the American company Chevron.

The Ministry of Petroleum said that the Minister was briefed during the tour on the work of drilling the new well for research and exploration of natural gas in the waters of the Mediterranean, which began this month, and this comes within the work program of the petroleum sector to intensify the work of exploration and drilling wells to reach new reserves of gas, especially in the regions. As promising as the Western Mediterranean region.

The Minister met with the company’s work team and stressed the importance of making efforts to speed up the drilling operations of the new well. He also stressed that the cooperation between the petroleum sector and Chevron in exploiting opportunities in the Mediterranean Sea aims to produce positive results in terms of developing more undiscovered resources for the benefit of the Egyptian economy.

As for Christian Svendsen, Regional Director for Emerging Countries at Chevron, he said that drilling work began in this well after the recent arrival of the “Estina Forth” drilling rig from Morocco, and this aims to contribute to unlocking the potential of marine energy resources in Egypt, with the highest levels of professional security and safety.

Svendsen also stressed Chevron’s commitment to working with the Egyptian government and various partners to support the growth of the Egyptian energy sector by continuing to implement research and exploration programs in Egypt.

We can say that this project reflects the strategic partnership between the petroleum sector and the American company Chevron, and the sector’s efforts to continue intensifying drilling and exploration activities in various regions, especially in the Mediterranean region, and all of this contributes to enhancing production capabilities and accelerating the increase in oil and gas production to meet local demand. And regional.

If you do not know, the North Dabaa offshore concession area was assigned to Chevron at a rate of 63%, in partnership with the Australian company Woodside Energy at a rate of 27%, and the Egyptian Tharwa Petroleum Company at a rate of 10%, and this is in order to achieve the largest value from the wells in this area, which is able to Large quantities of black gold, gas, and other energy materials will emerge that will suffice for local production, and we can also export them in foreign currency. Therefore, all of this will reflect positively on the Egyptian economy and will indirectly improve the citizen’s life.
