Egypt and Malaysia issued a joint statement regarding the official visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Egypt, coinciding with the sixty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, November 10, 2024, and on the occasion of the sixty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them and at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, where Anwar Ibrahim conducted, Prime Minister of Malaysia, official visit to Egypt from 9 to 12 November 2024.
The two sides held talks on November 10, 2024, which witnessed in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and an exchange of views on global issues of concern. The visit of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is the second visit to Egypt as Prime Minister of Malaysia, and it is the culmination of the growing relations that achieve mutual benefit for the two brotherly countries. To benefit from this new phase of close friendship and cooperation, the leaderships of the two countries agreed to advance bilateral relations between the two countries to the level of a strategic partnership in the near future. As an incentive to ensure further progress and development for both countries, as well as to support their efforts towards creating a stable, just and equitable world.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen political relations by increasing the frequency of exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. In this regard, Malaysia is scheduled to host the second meeting of the Egyptian-Malaysian Joint Committee and bilateral consultations as soon as agreed upon between the two parties.
The two sides, based on their awareness of the potential of the two countries’ economies, affirmed their confidence in the continued growth of the volume of mutual trade and investments. They also valued the efforts made to deepen business-led cooperation in the areas of the digital economy, agricultural commodities, and infrastructure development in the field of renewable energy, transportation and maritime transport, as well as cooperation in The industrial and semiconductor manufacturing sector. The two sides also highlighted that the comprehensive trade and investment relations between the two countries are based on the common interest of the principles of free and fair trade. They also agreed on the importance of the free trade agreements of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) in achieving benefit for both countries. .
The two sides noted the strong bilateral cooperation existing between the two countries in the fields of defense and security, and agreed to take the necessary measures to enhance and expand cooperation in these areas, including in addition to other efforts.
