The Public Prosecution commissioned the Alexandria Governorate to direct specialists in all neighborhoods of the governorate to inventory the establishments that are at risk of collapse and take the necessary legal measures to inspect them and examine their licensing files, and the measures or decisions taken regarding them to demolish or restore them, and to indicate who is responsible for the failure to implement those decisions, in addition to taking all necessary measures. To secure real estate and neighboring areas, in order to preserve the lives of citizens and public and private property.
The prosecution is tasked with inspecting buildings and facilities that are at risk of collapse in Alexandria
This came in light of the increasing incidents of collapsing building balconies and parts of collapsing properties in Alexandria Governorate, and the resulting loss of lives and property.
Earlier, a child was killed and another was injured, as a result of the collapse of the balcony of a residential unit from the first floor, in the Maamoura Al-Balad area, within the Thani Montazah neighborhood, in Alexandria.
The Montazah Second Police Department received a report from residents that a balcony had fallen on children, in the Maamoura Al-Balad area, and that a girl had been killed.
The police, accompanied by an ambulance and neighborhood men, moved to the site of the report, and it was discovered that a child had been killed and another injured, as they were playing in the corridor, and that the property was old, consisting of 3 floors and devoid of residents.
The necessary report was prepared for the concerned authorities to undertake investigations, and the injured person was transferred to Abu Qir Hospital for treatment, and the body of the other child was taken to the morgue.
