At the beginning of the press conference, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, welcomed the attendees to the port of Damietta, expressing his happiness today for attending the ceremony of operating and launching the first flight of the Egyptian/Italian RoRo line, accompanied by Lieutenant General Engineer/ Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry. Transportation, Dr. Ayman Al-Shehabi, Governor of Damietta, leaders of the Damietta Port Authority, and members of the House of Representatives from the governorate.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said: Today we are witnessing three events that carry very important messages, the first of which is the launch of the first ship in the RoRo line that connects the ports of Damietta in Egypt and Trieste in Italy, explaining the benefit that will accrue to the Egyptian citizen from this line, which is characterized as a fast line for transporting goods, specifically exports. Fresh agricultural produce in a record time of two and a half days, which can transport large Egyptian exports of vegetables, fruits and foodstuffs to Europe.
The Prime Minister added: This line and its features were a great demand for Egyptian exporters so that they could maximize their exports. After two years of negotiation and hard work between the Egyptian and Italian governments, we celebrate today the launch of the first Egyptian ship transporting Egyptian goods and exports to all parts of Europe, shortening the time period to less than half of the usual traditional lines, which creates a greater opportunity to increase Egyptian exports to Europe, especially exports. Agricultural and fresh food.
Regarding the second event that he witnessed today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly added: The Egyptian flag was raised on the “Wadi Al-Arish” ship, which represents a new addition to the Egyptian transport fleet, stressing that what was achieved comes within the framework of efforts to transform Egypt into a regional and global center for intra-regional trade. And maximizing Egyptian exports, which is being achieved today before our eyes and not just promises, through infrastructure and an Egyptian fleet capable of reaching all parts of the world.
He pointed out that through the Wadi Al-Arish ship’s load, which reaches more than 82 thousand tons, we can transport goods and Egyptian exports of food grains, such as: corn and wheat, which we import, and that they arrive as quickly as possible, and therefore Egypt has sovereignty and leadership in this matter. And also export our goods.
The Prime Minister added: The third matter on which we stand now is the Tahya Misr 1 container terminal, which is another part of the major expansion that we are undertaking in the port of Damietta. In order to be able to accommodate more trade movement as targeted.
The Prime Minister said: I spoke to you a few days ago and confirmed that we are able to bring our exports to more than 140 billion dollars, and for this to happen we need infrastructure that includes ports and ships capable of transport, in addition to roads and railways, and all of this will serve… The other important part is industry. Without all of this, expansion in industry or export will not occur. Therefore, today we see the fruits of a great effort from the Egyptian state over the years, and it is achieved every day on the ground.
At the same time, the Prime Minister pointed out that in conjunction with that topic, this week there was the opening of the international forum and exhibition for industry organized by the Federation of Egyptian Industries. We witnessed the extent of the tangible development in this exhibition, and we were also honored to meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, with more Of the 22 Chairman of the Board of Directors of international companies investing in Egypt, all of them have announced their future plans to expand their projects, in addition to the fact that there are companies entering for the first time to invest in Egypt, and intend to establish factories and enhance productivity in Egypt during the period. Coming.
He pointed out that all of this is happening despite all the surrounding challenges that we face and deal with every day, adding: All of this represents messages of reassurance that the state is moving in the right direction and path despite the challenges we face.
The Prime Minister moved on to talk about the economic situation, pointing out in this regard that he follows everything that is raised and said in media programs and social media, saying: There is still concern and rumors that the value of the dollar has increased and whether we are about to exceed 50 pounds per dollar, commenting. So by saying: I would like to remind you of something very important. There was an agreement that there would be no restriction on the movement of the dollar, and that we are committed to a flexible exchange rate, but with what happened in the whole world, especially with the American elections and their results. All of this led to an increase in the strength of the dollar compared to all currencies around the world, including the euro, the British pound, and all other currencies. The Egyptian pound is part of an existing global system, so it is natural for this type of movement to occur, and therefore we should not worry about temporary increases. In the dollar.
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly added: We are moving within the framework of a free market that is subject to the rules of supply and demand, and the most important thing is that we do not have any delays, as there is movement, supply and demand, and the needs of industry and trade supplies are met.
He also added: With this, I wanted to clarify very important messages to us as Egyptians that what we see here today in the port is something very important and happy and calls for optimism, and thank God this trend is being followed in all development sectors of the Egyptian economy, stressing that the vision is very clear for the government and we are moving in The right direction to achieve a start for the Egyptian economy during the coming period, indicating that these projects contribute to creating thousands of job opportunities for our youth. As you see before you, the port, the companies that operate in it, and the factories that are being built, all of this provides… Job opportunities for our youth and children during the coming period, saying: The coming is better, God willing.
He continued: We are happy today with our presence in Damietta, and we intend to visit more governorates during the coming period, as we make periodic visits to various governorates, and as you know, we visited the New Valley Governorate at the beginning of this week, and every week we will visit a new governorate so that we can see together the fruits of the development efforts represented in Projects implemented on every spot in Egypt.
