pledge US President-elect Donald TrumpWith massive increases in customs duties on goods coming from Mexico, Canada, and China, starting from the first day of his administration and inauguration as president of the country, according to what was published by CNN.
Trump imposed tariffs on goods
Trump said that this step he will take comes in response to illegal immigration, crime, and drugs coming across the border, according to what he posted on his page on the Truth Social application.
He continued, saying: On January 20th, as one of the first of many executive orders I issue, I will sign all documents necessary to impose a 25% tariff on all products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous open borders.
Trump posted on his platform on Truth Social, saying: “This tariff will remain in effect until the invasion of drugs, especially fentanyl, and all illegal immigrants into our country stops! America’s neighbors can easily solve this long-standing problem.”
He added that China would face higher tariffs on its goods – 10% above any existing tariffs – in order to prevent the flow of illicit drugs into the United States, adding: I have had many conversations with China regarding the huge quantities of drugs, especially fentanyl, that are being sent. To the United States – but to no avail.
