Al-Nasr Motors aims to produce 300 buses and 600 electric batteries in 2026

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, witnessed this morning the ceremonial activities held at Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector, on the occasion of the restart and start of production at the bus factory, after it stopped about 15 years ago. The celebration was attended by Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Engineer Mahmoud Essmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, in addition to a number of officials from many authorities, A number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, in addition to ambassadors of a number of countries in Cairo.

The celebration ceremony began with watching a documentary film and a presentation about the history of Al-Nasr Automotive Company, the work that has been done to develop it, and what is being done to restore it to its ancient position as one of the Egyptian industrial castles.

In this regard, Dr. Khaled Shedid, Managing Director of Al-Nasr Automotive Company, indicated that the company’s future vision aims to exploit all its factories and introduce them into the production cycle, and invest in some industries that feed growth and deepen the industry, while diversifying products to include light transportation, golf cars, and tuk-tuks. Electrical, as well as achieving optimal exploitation of the customs area within the company to facilitate and speed up logistical operations.

For his part, the Minister of Public Business Sector indicated that our celebration of this historic day comes to witness the beginning of a new era for Al-Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, one of the industrial castles affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector, which has long been a symbol of the national industry in Egypt, pointing out that the company’s restart after… Years of downtime are not just an industrial event, but rather an affirmation of the will of the Egyptian state under the leadership of His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and the insistence on advancing the national industry, and a new beginning towards achieving our great ambitions in the field of the automobile and vehicle industry.

He added that the Ministry of Public Business Sector is making more efforts to develop its various subsidiaries and achieve its strategic goals in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision for sustainable development, the government’s work program, and the state ownership policy document, explaining that this achievement would not have been achieved without the joint efforts and continuous perseverance by All employees of the company, in addition to the state’s continued support for the industrial sector in Egypt, and its keenness to rehabilitate and develop public business sector companies to keep pace with global developments.

During the celebration, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of a contract to establish a joint-stock company between Al-Nasr Automotive Company and the Singaporean-Taiwanese company “Tron Technology” and the Emirati “Eur Transit” company, for the purpose of manufacturing the first electric minibus (24 passengers) for service within cities and the tourism sector, with a production capacity of up to To 300 buses in 2026, in addition to establishing a line to produce electric batteries with a production capacity of 600 batteries in 2026, and production is scheduled to begin from the middle of next year, with these numbers to be doubled beginning in 2027.

It was pointed out that the establishment of this company comes within the framework of strengthening partnerships with the private sector and attracting more foreign investments.

After attending the celebratory activities, the Prime Minister toured the bus factory, to inspect the development work that had been done. He also followed the various production stages and processes leading to the final product, listening to a detailed explanation of the production stages, and the quality and efficiency tests carried out on the product according to According to the international standards applied in this regard, during the various stages of manufacturing, it was noted that the current production capacity of the factory reaches 300 buses annually, and it is targeted to reach 1,500 buses annually by the year 2027, with a local component percentage of up to 50% in its first stage. It will later reach 60-70%, and it was pointed out during the explanation that it is being exported to a number of Arab countries.

At the conclusion of his tour around the factory, the Prime Minister praised the efforts and efficiency of the Egyptian workforce in implementing the various stages of the bus manufacturing operations with high quality, in accordance with the standards and specifications applied in this regard.

The tour included the Prime Minister watching the delivery of the first batch of the company’s new buses, called “Nasr Sky,” to the Ministry of Transport companies, as these buses are among the most modern buses in the world in terms of technology and efficiency, in addition to their distinction in comfortable and safe designs, as the bus capacity is 49 passengers. And a length of 12 meters. During this, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation about the tourism programs and offers that the “Egypt Tourism” Company is offering during the current period, to attract more tourist traffic to the various historical and tourist destinations throughout the Republic.

The Prime Minister also inspected the development project at the passenger car factory, listening to a detailed explanation that included the status of the construction work, which is being carried out in full swing, and a summary of its time programmes, as it was indicated that these works are scheduled to be completed during the next month, in preparation for the start of the project. Installation of production lines with a design capacity of 20,000 cars per year per shift, and trial production is scheduled to begin in mid-2025 with a local component exceeding 45% as a first stage.

During this, the Prime Minister learned about the various manufacturing stages that passenger cars go through to reach the final product, and the quality and efficiency tests that are carried out during them. It was also noted that the factory is designed to accommodate the manufacturing of more than one model at the same time.

It should be noted that Al-Nasr Automotive Company was founded in 1959 as the first Egyptian car manufacturing company, and played a pivotal role in supporting the national industry. It is located on an area of ​​approximately 900 thousand square meters in the Wadi Hof area in Helwan, and consists of 9 factories.

A decision was made to liquidate the company in 2009, and in 2017 the company was returned from liquidation, and after restarting it and modernizing its production lines, the company is preparing to enter a new phase of advanced production in line with the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s future industrial vision.
