Experienced company Victory The automobile industry, which is a symbol of the Egyptian national industry, has a new start after a 15-year hiatus, as the company was established in 1959 as the first automobile factory in Egypt and the Middle East, within the framework of a national project to strengthen the national industry led by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.

The aim of establishing the company was to meet the needs of the local market for cars, reduce dependence on imports, in addition to opening new horizons for export and supporting the national economy.

Production of Al-Nasr Automotive Company begins

Al-Nasr’s actual production began in the early 1960s, and its cars achieved wide fame thanks to their quality and reasonable prices.

One of its most prominent models was the Ramses car, which appeared in 1960 as the first Egyptian car. It was displayed at an international exhibition and became known as the cheapest car in the world at a price of only 200 pounds, followed by the Al-Nasr 128 model, inspired by the famous Fiat 128, which was collected locally under a license from the Italian company. To become a popular choice for Egyptian families thanks to its durability and suitability for Egyptian roads.

The company also introduced the Al-Nasr 1100 and 1300 models, which were known for their simple design and fuel efficiency, in addition to the Al-Nasr Shaheen car, inspired by the Fiat 131, which remained in production until the early second millennium, and was widely used as a taxi due to its endurance and high efficiency.

As for the Al-Nasr pickup model, it has gained great popularity in the countryside and cities for transporting goods.

However, the company faced major challenges during the 1990s, including competition with imported cars after economic openness policies, its failure to keep pace with technical developments, and the accumulation of debt, which led to it officially announcing its cessation of production in 2009.

Yesterday, Saturday, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the restart event of Al-Nasr Automotive Company, in the presence of a number of senior officials, to celebrate the return of production at the bus factory.

Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of the Public Business Sector, expressed his pride in this step, which reflects the state’s interest in reviving national industries and enhancing confidence in the Egyptian economy, noting that the restart of Al-Nasr Company comes within the state’s plan to support and develop the industrial sector, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Shimi explained that Al-Nasr Automotive Company will begin implementing an ambitious production plan that includes manufacturing 300 buses in the first year, with production rising to 600 buses in the second year, reaching 1,500 buses in the third year, adding that there is a plan to develop the buses produced, including Manufacture of tourist buses.

The Minister of Public Business Sector indicated that the Ministry owns 9 factories on a total area of ​​up to 900,000 square metres, which will contribute to deepening the automotive industry in Egypt, with a focus on localizing this industry locally.
