Behind the scenes of an argument between Imam Ashour and his fine of one million pounds
Earlier, a private source within Al-Ahly club revealed, in statements to Cairo 24, the scenes of the altercation between Imam Ashour, the team’s player, and Mohamed El-Shenawy, the team’s captain, during the past few hours.
Imam Ashour missed participating in Al-Ahly’s match against its counterpart, Stade Abidjan, in the African Champions League, as he remained on the bench.
The source said: Imam Ashour expressed his anger at not participating in the match that Al-Ahly played against Abidjan.
He added: Al-Shennawi addressed the hadith to Imam Ashour, saying: Why were you laughing in front of the audience in the stadium?
Imam Ashour responded to El-Shenawy: You will tell me whether I should laugh or not. I am not Bushin, and we are all players like each other. No one is a guardian over anyone. To which El-Shenawy responded: When I tell you about anything you hear, and you do not like it, I complain to the sports director.
Mohamed Ramadan, the club’s sports director, tried to calm Imam Ashour, but he ignored him and left the locker room.
The source concluded his speech by saying that Mohamed Ramadan, the sports director, took a decision to fine Emam Ashour one million pounds and exclude him from group training for a week, stipulating that the player apologize to El-Shenawy and his teammates to return to group training.
