Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, presented the winner of the Delta University Prize in the field of agriculture and food security during the ceremony held yesterday evening in the presence of Engineer Ibrahim Mehleb, former Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, and Major General Tariq. Marzouk, Governor of Dakahlia, Dr. Ayman Al-Shehabi, Governor of Damietta, Dr. Mohamed Rabie Nasser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delta University, the award winner, and Dr. Yahya. Al-Mashad, President of Delta University, Dr. Abdel Hadi Al-Qasabi, Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Representative Hisham Al-Hosary, Chairman of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee in the House of Representatives, and a number of ministers, former governors, presidents of Egyptian universities, heads of governmental, scientific and research bodies and institutions, and members of Parliament.
The Minister of Agriculture presented the winner with the Agriculture and Food Security Award, stressing the importance of scientific research in achieving sustainable development, which the state provides all means of support to advance, noting that this is among the goals of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
He said that the Egyptian state views scientific research with all seriousness, and works to implement it, and scientific research contributes to the agricultural sector, in all its fields, whether in increasing and maximizing productivity, rationalizing water use, etc., pointing out that the Ministry of Agriculture has many qualified researchers and scientists, And who perform their role with all seriousness and sincerity in order to achieve sustainable agricultural development.
The Minister of Agriculture pointed out the importance of the role of the private sector in supporting applied scientific research and that the state does not hesitate to provide all support for serious research that serves the agricultural sector with all its various activities to achieve food security for citizens, stressing that since assuming responsibility he has placed at the forefront of his priorities the interest in scientific research and scientists and the encouragement of researchers.
During the celebration, Engineer Ibrahim Mehleb, former Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, and Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, were honored. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, was also honored and awarded the Delta University shield for his support of scientific research and agricultural innovation.

In medical and health sciences, equally between Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Saqqa, Professor of Urology and Nephrology and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, and Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Al-Qassas, Professor and Head of the Department of Endemic Diseases, Helun University.
In the field of water and energy sciences: Dr. Fadl Abdel Moneim Al-Sayed Issa, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering – Kafrelsheikh University.
In the field of engineering and technological sciences, Dr. Sameh Mohamed Abdel Wahed Nada, Professor of Mechanical Engineering – Vice President of the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology for Education and Academic Affairs.
In the field of agriculture and food security: Dr. Yasser Muhammad Nour El-Din Shabana, full-time professor of plant diseases – Faculty of Agriculture – Mansoura University.
It is noteworthy that the Dr Rabie Award for Scientific Research, which was launched 7 years ago, also includes honoring the best researchers from Egyptian universities and research centers in the field of engineering and medical sciences, in addition to agricultural sciences and food security.
