Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the Ministry clearly announced that the health recommendations issued by the World Health Organization and many organizations concerned with maternal health, whether international or local, are that the best nutrition for the child is breast milk because it enables the child to obtain physical growth and organs. Immune system and that all industrial milks do not achieve this purpose.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained, during television statements, that these recommendations have increased during the recent period, stressing that there have been a number of old recommendations regarding infant formula that have been changed, and pointing out that there are bad practices that have been monitored regarding the harms of infant formula.

He stressed that the entire infant dairy system is mechanized and has been trained to deal with mothers and children, explaining that recent recommendations confirm that a mother who suffers from diabetes must breastfeed the child in order for there to be a balance in the sugar levels in the body. He continued: We have monitored cases of milk being used up for deceased children. He stated that a bottle of infant formula costs the state about 300 pounds.

Earlier, an informed source at the Ministry of Health and Population revealed that the prices of 3 preventive vaccinations provided through the Serum and Vaccine branches of the Holding Company for Biological Preparations and Vaccines, Vaxera, had been moved.

The source explained, in statements to Cairo 24, that the vaccines that drive their price are hepatitis A for children, hepatitis B antibodies, and meningitis conjugated tetralogy (Nimenrix).

The source reviewed the new prices for the three vaccines, as follows:

  1. Hepatitis A vaccine for children from 404 pounds to 578 pounds.
  2. Hepatitis B antibodies range from 740 to 1950 pounds.
  3. Nimenrix conjugated quadrivalent meningitis vaccine from 368 pounds to 1,275 pounds
