This came in the presence and blessing of His Eminence Bishop Markos, Metropolitan of Shubra El Kheima and the papal vicar of the monastery, His Eminence Bishop Youannis, the priests and monks, and a large number of celebrants around the cake, which was decorated with pictures of the great martyr Mar Girgis and Pope Tawadros II, and pictures of members of the papal committee supervising the monastery’s celebrations.

This comes in celebration of the anniversary of the dedication of the first church in the name of the martyr George in the city of Lod in Palestine, in his Al-Amer monastery in the Rizeigat, west of Luxor Governorate.

Every year in November
