The branch of the Egyptian Medicine Authority in the Red Sea, headed by Dr. Hussein Hamdy, Director of Pharmaceutical Inspection in the branch, was able to seize a car loaded with 2,045 packages of unknown origin in coordination and cooperation with the Supply Investigation Police Department, before distributing them in the commercial markets in Hurghada.
Investigations revealed that a force from the Supply Investigations Department, in cooperation with inspectors from the Egyptian Drug Authority branch in the Red Sea, was able to seize a car loaded with quantities of cosmetics of unknown origin, which numbered 2,045 packages, and a report was drawn up on the incident to be presented to the investigating authorities.
All of the seized containers of cosmetics were not registered with the Egyptian Drug Authority and violated the Authority’s Chairman’s Decision No. 122 of 2022 regarding the listing and circulation of cosmetics, in addition to the absence of any invoices indicating their source, in violation of the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade’s Decision No. 113 of 1994 regarding the prohibition of the circulation of goods of unknown origin. .
It is prohibited to trade or import all cosmetics in the Arab Republic of Egypt unless they are listed in the Authority’s electronic database in accordance with the regulatory guides issued in accordance with the provisions of the President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority’s Resolution No. 122 of 2022 regarding the listing and circulation of cosmetics, and obtaining its own listing number.
The manager stressed Inspection The pharmacist urged the continuation of inspection campaigns on commercial markets in the governorate and coordination and cooperation with all security and regulatory agencies to prevent the spread of cosmetic products of unknown origin that are not registered with the Egyptian Drug Authority.
