The statement issued by Al-Ahly stated:
Al-Ahly Club sent a letter to the Professional Clubs Association containing the emergency circumstances that made it necessary for the Al-Ahly delegation to travel to Qatar on December 10th. To participate in the Intercontinental Club Confederations Cup, in compliance with the tournament regulations and in implementation of the obligations approved by FIFA before its match scheduled for December 14 with the winner of Pachuca of Mexico and Botafogo of Brazil.
The club stressed in the same letter that the travel date that was set due to emergency circumstances conflicts with Al-Ahly’s first match in the League Cup, which was scheduled for the same day.
Accordingly, Al-Ahly, which represents Egyptian football, and even all of African football in the Club World Cup, requests the support of the Professional Clubs Association and the postponement of its match in the League Cup on December 10.
